As if you just can’t get away from social networks enough, get ready for the story of Facebook coming to the big screen this October. Columbia Pictures has just released a trailer for The Social Network. The movie is based on the book “The Accidental Billionaires” and covers the early days of Facebook from its original inception through its rise to social networking phenomenon. Ironically, the book and subsequent script was important enough to bring in some Hollywood heavy hitters in Columbia and Aaron Sorkin to produce (A Few Good Men, The West Wing, The American President, Sports Night) and David Fincher to direct (Alien 3, Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
With all of the privacy issues that have hit Facebook head on recently this movie may play well to the American psyche, or just be good clean- young guys become instant billionaires and introduced to power and manipulation- fun!
